Enrollment data for fall 2017 announced

Sept. 26, 2017

Maryville College’s total enrollment for the fall 2017 semester includes 1,181 students, officials announced this week. The freshmen class – Maryville College’s Class of 2021 – includes 301 members.

For the Class of 2021, 20 states and six foreign countries are represented. Sixty-one percent of the class is from Tennessee. The freshmen come from about 200 secondary schools, and while many are undecided about a major, a large percentage of freshmen have indicated an interest in majors in the following academic divisions: natural science, education and social science.

The gender distribution is evenly split, and ethnic minorities represent 23 percent of the class.

In addition to new freshmen, there are 69 new transfer students enrolled. The College also has 59 veteran and military-related students enrolled for the 2017-18 academic year.

“Each new class of students enriches the Maryville College community by bringing their unique backgrounds to campus. As a Military Friendly school, we are especially excited by the growth we have seen in veteran and military-related students because of the experience and additional perspectives they share,” said Cyndi Sweet, executive director for admissions and financial aid at Maryville College. “We are excited to welcome our new students and help them grow into young adults and professionals.”

Students who are interested in joining future MC classes are encouraged to attend one of three “Meet Maryville” events scheduled for the campus this academic year. These will be held Oct. 7, Nov. 4 and April 7. For more information, please call 865.981.8092 or visit maryvillecollege.edu/admissions/events/meet-maryville.
