Atlanta events planned for April 21-23

The Maryville College Scots are headed to Atlanta!

Several events are planned that are designed to help Atlanta-area students, families and high school educators learn more about Maryville College and what it has to offer.

On Sat. April 21, Maryville College will host a special event for high school students and their families from 10 a.m until 2 p.m. at Atlanta ROCKS! Indoor Climbing Gym (1019 Collier Rd. NW, Atlanta, GA 30318). During the event, students and families will learn about the Maryville College experience and the College’s commitment to being Fit.Green.Happy.® Attendees will hear from Bruce Guillaume ’76, director of Mountain Challenge, as well as John and Gail Jokerst, parents of MC alumnus Sam Jokerst ’17. There also will be an opportunity for attendees to challenge themselves at Atlanta’s premier indoor climbing facility.

Also on April 21, Maryville College will host two alumni events. Atlanta-area alumni are invited to gather at Atlanta ROCKS! Indoor Climbing Gym from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. During the event, alumni can enjoy free indoor climbing with fellow alumni.

Following the event, alumni are invited to an afternoon of fun, food and fellowship from 3 pm. until 6 p.m. at Casagave Cantina and Music Venue (8540 Roswell Rd. #10, Sandy Springs, GA 30350). Space has been reserved for Maryville College (Dutch treat). Please RSVP for alumni events by April 13.

On Sun., April 22, alumni are invited to worship and fellowship with other graduates and friends at Morningside Presbyterian Church. Coffee and Conversation will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by Sunday School for all ages. Worship begins at 11 a.m. MC alumnus Matt Frease ’05 is helping coordinate the event. On Mon., April 23, high school counselors and teachers are invited to a breakfast event from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Carl E. Sanders Family YMCA at Buckhead (1160 Moores Mill Rd., Atlanta, GA 30327). The event, hosted by Maryville College’s Office of Admissions and designed to help high school counselors and teachers learn more about MC and what kind of students are a good fit, will include presentations by the Jokersts, Guillaume, MC admissions staff members, Maryville College President Tom Bogart and MC alumnus Joe Ambler ’03, associate executive director of the Carl E. Sanders Family YMCA at Buckhead. For more information, please contact the Admissions Office.
