Faith Community Fair and Worship set for Aug. 19 at MC

July 9, 2018

Maryville College’s Faith Community Fair will be held on Sun., Aug. 19, 2018 from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the Clayton Center for the Arts’ William Baxter Lee III Grand Foyer, followed by a worship service at 7 p.m. in the Ronald and Lynda Nutt Theatre (please note the earlier date and new time for this year’s event).

The event will give Maryville College students the opportunity to meet members of local churches and faith communities and learn about their worship services while enjoying food and friendship before classes begin.

“Worship and service is often an important part of the college experience for MC students, and for many, the relationship begins with the Faith Community Fair,” said Kathleen Farnham, director of church relations at Maryville College. “We are always thrilled with the great participation of area faith communities in this fun and festive event, and we deeply appreciate their ministry with and to college students.”

The Faith Community Fair is open to Maryville College students, as well as representatives from local congregations who would like to share information about their faith communities. Set-up begins at 5 p.m., and congregations are asked to bring one to four members and provide displays, information about their communities, goodie bags and dessert items for students to pick up from church display tables.

“Representatives may be lay leaders, clergy, program directors, current college students or members with particular interest in ministry with college students,” Farnham said.

The Rev. Dr. Anne D. McKee, MC campus minister, and MC students will lead the worship service at 7 p.m. in the Clayton Center’s Ronald and Lynda Nutt Theatre. The worship service is open to the public, and participating churches will be recognized during the service to better assist students in connecting with local congregations.

Reservations for the Faith Community Fair are required by Aug. 13. For more information or to register, please contact Kathleen Farnham at 865.981.8217 or
