MC receives BRAVO! Award from Keep Blount Beautiful

June 12, 2019

Keep Blount Beautiful (KBB) recently presented Maryville College with a 2019 Bravo! Beautification Award for Fayerweather Hall and Anderson Hall.

The award is given to properties for their landscaping and beautification efforts. Members of the Garden Clubs of Blount County judge the nominees based on several criteria, including the appropriateness of the plants to the site, use of landscape design, use of color, originality, improvement to the environment, long-term improvement to the site, impact on observers, cleanliness and aesthetic appeal.

"Maryville College strives to keep its campus beautiful year-round,” according to the nomination for Maryville College. “The men and women who work on the grounds put their all into making sure this place looks wonderful, and they deserve to be recognized for this."

Maryville College President Tom Bogart, along with members of the College’s Physical Plant staff, accepted the award during KBB’s 26th annual Bravo! Awards celebration luncheon on June 6.

This latest recognition marks the fifth BRAVO! award Maryville College has received in the last 14 years. The historic and picturesque 263-acre campus won for beautification in 2005 and 2013. In 2015, the College was recognized with its first Dee Lidvall Award for sustainability efforts across the entire campus and in 2017, Mountain Challenge, LLC, which operates on the campus, was recognized with the Lidvall award for improvements around its headquarters at Crawford House.

KBB was founded in 1992 and is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful. The Bravo! Awards are the culmination of the 100 days of the Great American Cleanup.
