Anderson Hall

About our Beloved Hall

Anderson Hall, named for the Rev. Isaac Anderson who founded Maryville College, was built in 1870 and is the oldest building on the Maryville College campus.  Anderson Hall is home to the humanities, education, and languages and literature divisions at Maryville College.  Every student who has attended Maryville over the past 139 years has taken classes in Anderson Hall, and many of MC's best professors and administrators have been recognized as Legends of Anderson Hall.

Exterior renovation of Anderson Hall is complete.  Contractors restored the iconic bell tower, fixed the exterior brick masonry, installed a new slate roof, gutters, and downspouts, and stabilized the foundation and footings which were originally poured just four years after the Civil War.

Interior renovation is the vital next step in restoring Anderson Hall.  Interior renovation will include reconfiguration of the floor plan, installation of an elevator, modernization of the utilities infrastructure, and technology upgrades for all classroom and office spaces. The estimated cost of interior renovation is $6.8 million.

Projected Timeline
