Each major degree program is associated with a CIP code (Classification of Instructional Program) that provides a taxonomic scheme that supports accurate tracking and reporting by the National Center for Educational Statistics. As you peruse the course offerings, remember that courses numbered 101-199 are primarily for freshmen, 201-299 for sophomores, and 300-399 for upper classmen. A few courses numbered 401 and higher are intended primarily for seniors.
