Center for Community Engagement

Better Experience. Greater Purpose.

Service is an integral part of the Maryville College experience and a major component of the College’s Statement of Purpose. Offering a variety of service opportunities provides students with a unique connection to our local, national, and global communities. Such a focus equips students with a vital perspective of civic engagement, community partnership, social responsibility, and many other life skills that will remain valuable after leaving Maryville College.

Maryville College offers a variety of ways in which students can participate in volunteer service programs. Though some service opportunities come in the form of scholarship commitments or service-learning course responsibilities, the office of volunteer service offers support to any student interested in being a community volunteer. Most Maryville College students are actively engaged in some form of volunteer service, and this proud reality reinforces the College’s goal of shaping student life inside and outside of the classroom, both on and off campus.

Please let us know how we can help you find a program that fulfills your volunteer interests.

Scholarships

Whether giving back and serving others is one of your core commitments, or you just enjoy working hard, the Center for Community Engagement offers scholarships for both incoming and current Maryville College students. Community Partners

Maryville College has a long-standing tradition of involvement in the larger community through service projects, conservation, preservation and programs to improve the lives of those around us.  Some students serve with nonprofits as part of scholarship programs, some serve in conjunction with classroom study, and some serve through individual motivation or through student clubs.

The college community strives to engage our local community in ways that will create lasting and positive impacts. Our goal is to work with local organizations to create partnerships that are mutually beneficial and sustainable. If your organization has a need for which the college community might be of help, please contact the office of Community Engagement at 865-981-8122.
