Inauguration Committee Letter of Thanks
On behalf of Maryville College and the College's Inauguration Committee, we would like to thank the East Tennessee community for helping us officially welcome Dr. William T. "Tom" Bogart as the 11th president.
This historic celebration could not have been possible without the support of local businesses, civic leaders, churches and community groups, as well as hundreds of students, faculty, staff, Board members, alumni, parents and college and university delegates who participated.
Every member of the College's Board of Directors contributed to Inauguration programming, as well as nearly 20 other friends of the College, ensuring that none of the College's operational dollars were spent on the celebration. Contributions or in-kind donations also came from Clayton Homes, Aramark Higher Education, Silver Spoon Express at Maryville College, BB&T, Bill Jones Music of Knoxville and Knox ivi Internet Broadcasting Company.
We are deeply grateful to members of our regional news media who helped us spread the word about various events and then covered those events so that all readers and viewers felt included in the festivities.
In planning for the Inauguration of Dr. Bogart, we believed that events should be a celebration of the College as well as a celebration of its new leader. Looking back on April 13-16, we are convinced that the Inauguration was, indeed, a celebration of a wider community, as well – a community that generously supports and regularly partners with this 192-year-old institution because it correctly views Maryville College as an important asset in our region.
Sincerely,
Natalie Haslam
