Vice President for Finance and Administration
Maryville College, an independent, residential, four-year liberal arts college, invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice President for Finance and Administration, an appointment that will become effective on or about July 1, 2014.
Established in 1819, Maryville is one of the fifty oldest colleges in the United States and is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). True to its beginnings, Maryville has developed a community of learners in an atmosphere of mutual respect and collegiality. By valuing reason, faith and service, Maryville has carved a distinctive place for itself in the landscape of higher education. Its beautiful and vibrant 320-acre campus is ideally situated between the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Knoxville, Tennessee’s third largest city. The College enrolls approximately 1,200 students and offers more than sixty diverse fields of study, with a traditional liberal arts program at the core and opportunities for pre-professional preparation.
The Vice President for Finance and Administration reports to the President and is a Senior Officer of the College. The vice president serves as chief financial officer and is responsible for ensuring the College’s fiscal integrity and operational efficiency through effective administration and direction of its financial, human, technology and physical resources. The vice president serves as senior staff liaison to four committees of the Board of Directors: finance, investment and endowment, audit and risk management, and buildings and grounds. Reporting directly to the vice president will be the controller, director of financial reporting, director of physical plant, the director of human resources, and the director of information technology. The portfolio also includes the mailroom and bookstore.
Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, financial modeling, business office operations, and debt financing is required. Experience in facilities management and planning, gift and endowment administration, tuition pricing and discounting, technology and human resources is preferred. Experience in a private college setting is preferred.
A bachelor’s degree is required, with a master’s degree preferred.
