Dr. Ariane Schratter is a Professor of Psychology at Maryville College. As a Faculty Fellow within the Bonner Foundation’s Community Engaged Learning Initiative, she serves as the liaison for Maryville College’s community engaged learning. She regularly teaches courses on Child Development, Child Trauma and Resilience, Child Poverty and Inequality and a travel study course, Global Child Welfare: Switzerland. She focuses her professional interests bridging community needs—local to global—with the college curriculum thereby championing Maryville College students as the next generation of change makers within fields such as child advocacy, education, social services, and law. She has worked closely with agencies throughout the region, including the Tennessee Department of Education, Department of Children’s Services, Blount County Juvenile Courts, and numerous child and family-serving organizations. She serves on varied advisory committees including the Blount County Trauma Responsive Community Board, the Department of Children’s Services Community Advisory Board, and the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges Blount County Advisory Group. She enjoys supporting the University of Tennessee’s Human and Animal Bond in Tennessee (HABIT) program by teaming up with her occasionally tired basset hound to visit children in schools and crisis support settings.
