MLK Day of Service

string(5) "mlk25"

Martin Luther King weekend is a great time to “Do Good on the Largest Possible Scale!” This year, the Center for Community Engagement is encouraging students to find an opportunity to participate in one day over the MLK Holiday Weekend. In order to participate, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Get a team together. Teams can be any amount of people (even 2, but must include at least one, current MC Student!)
  2. Look at the community needs for this weekend on Volunteer Blount or Volunteer East TN. Sign your team up to participate. (Know of an opportunity not on the internet? That counts too!)
  3. Wear your MC Gear and participate in any volunteer activity from Friday, January 17 through Monday, January 20th. Bonus points if your team walks in the Martin Luther King Day March! While you’re volunteering, snap at least one group photo of all your team members- the more pictures the merrier!
  4. Afterwards (but BEFORE Tuesday, January 21nd), fill out the form below, including your team member’s names and shirt size (for a sweatshirt). Afterwards, any MC student on the team gets a free MLK Day of Service 2025 Sweatshirt! (We’ll contact the team leader (whoever submits the form) when they’re ready for pickup!)

Need any more motivation? Here’s the swag you’ll receive:

Mockup of a black sweatshirt for Maryville College's MLK Day of Service in January 2025. The front features an image of Martin Luther King Jr. alongside the quote, 'Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve.' The back displays repeated text reading 'MLK Day of Service,' with one instance bolded, along with 'Maryville College' and 'January 2025' in white lettering.
