The Global Scots Orientation program is designed to facilitate new students’ adjustment to the Maryville campus and community. Some of the events are just for fun and include great opportunities to meet new people; others are meant to provide crucial information. The orientation includes information on registration, student services, library services, health services, campus, computers, telephones, banking, immigration, cultural adjustment. First Year and Transfer Students will also be placed in the campus-wide New Scots Orientation program, required of all students.
Pre-Arrival Virtual Webinars
We are so glad you have chosen to study with us. Before you arrive, you are required to attend the our summer online webinar series. These sessions will help you understand important policies, meet other students and staff, and become familiar with Maryville College. Dates will be sent closer to arrival!
Global Scots Orientation
Global Scots Orientation is mandatory for all F and J international students and exchange students. International & global students learn about services, guidelines, and culture through Global Scots Orientation to accomplish successfully their educational purpose in the U.S.
Our Goal
All Global Scots Orientation sessions are planned and coordinated to get our internationals started as a Maryville College Scot!
Our goals are to help you:

Dates
The mandatory orientation will take place:
In the FALL orientation week is in mid-August (exact dates to be shared in acceptance materials)
In the SPRING orientation takes place the 2 days prior to the start of classes.
What you will learn
Initial sessions are specific to international students, and then there will be programming that is combined with all new students to the College. The goals of this course are to introduce the students to Maryville College, campus life, and to build group cohesiveness.
Additionally, there will be virtual information sessions offered prior to arrival to complement this orientation period and to help you learn how the Center for Global Engagement Team can assist you in preparation for arrival to Maryville so that you will feel at home.

- This will be your chance to meet other new international students, register for classes and talk about issues that are important for your stay at the college. Attendance at this orientation is required.

New Scots Orientation
New Scots Orientation is what we call our general orientation for ALL new students to the college. International students will start as a group together and then will divide into groups that are blended with US students part way through orientation!
