Dr. Jessica Piso serves as Adjunct Instructor of Flute at Maryville College. She is an active performer and teacher across the country. She earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree with Instrumental emphasis from Ohio University. She earned a Master of Music degree in Flute Performance from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Flute Performance from the University of Oklahoma.
Dr. Piso has enhanced her teaching expertise through completion of Suzuki Flute Teacher Training. She dedicated her time to flute students by serving as a board member of the Oklahoma Flute Society. There she organized projects designed to assist young flutists in learning, oversaw the Oklahoma Flute Fair, served as a guest clinician teaching at Flute Choir Festivals, and facilitated online workshops. She also served as an adjudicator for Oklahoma All-State Auditions and conducted masterclasses preparing for Oklahoma All-State repertoire.
Dr. Piso has taught applied flute lessons, studio, chamber coaching, music appreciation courses, flute methods for music education majors, and conducted flute choirs. Her professional flute and piccolo experience includes performing with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchard Park Symphony Orchestra, Northern Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, and the Oklahoma Festival Ballet. She has performed locally, at state level festivals, and at the National Flute Association conference. Some of her past favorite performance venues include Carnegie Hall, Disney Hall in Los Angeles, and Normandy American Cemetery overlooking Omaha Beach.
