Naji Bsisu graduated from the University of Georgia in 2020 with a Ph.D. in International Affairs. Prior to that, he received a M.A. in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Chicago and a M.A. in Political Science from the University of Missouri. He began teaching at Maryville College in Fall 2020. He teaches courses in Peace and Conflict, Refugees and Migration, Contemporary Political Issues, West Asia and North Africa, Introduction to Comparative Politics, and Regional Comparative Government and Politics.

His research largely focuses on human rights. He is especially interested in refugees and host-state repression. He also works on international and civil conflict, conflict management, peace studies, and nonviolent resistance. His work has won the ISA Frank J. Klingberg Award and appears in the Journal of Peace Research, International Interactions, the Oxford Handbook of Peacebuilding, Statebuilding, and Peace Formation, Contextualizing Security: A Reader, and the International Studies Review journal, among others. He has presented his research at multiple International Studies Association conferences as well as at the Ending Atrocities Workshop at Uppsala University in Sweden.
