River Valley Health (RVH) is Maryville College’s primary healthcare partner for students! Through this partnership, students can now receive quick access to high-quality, comprehensive medical services. RVH’s Alcoa Health Center has same-day primary care appointments available for students. Whether students prefer to meet with a medical professional in-person or virtually, RVH is prepared to help students optimize their health. RVH also has an on-site pharmacy that can provide students with medications. Services are available for everyone, regardless of health insurance status. For those who are uninsured or underinsured, sliding scale fees are available to help offset the costs of services.
Services Available:
- Management of ongoing medical conditions, such as diabetes and asthma.
- Management of acute medical conditions, such as sinus infections, minor injuries, urinary tract infections, and skin infections.
- Annual wellness visits.
- Minor procedures, such as joint injections, skin biopsies, and abscess drainage.
- Infectious diseases, including PrEP and hepatitis C treatment.
- OBGYN, including Pap tests, breast exams, treatment and testing for sexually transmitted infections, birth control and menstrual issues.
- After an initial visit at their local clinic, students have the option to be seen virtually for any subsequent visits.

Students can call 865-273-1616 or use online form to make a same-day appointment. When calling, please let the staff know you are a Maryville College student. When using the online form, indicate that you are a Maryville College student in the comment box.
Pharmacy
RVH understands that prescription medications are an important piece of treating acute and chronic conditions, and they are proud to offer affordable in-house pharmacy services.
Cost
Services are available for students, regardless of their health insurance status. For those who are uninsured or underinsured, sliding scale fees are available to help offset the costs of primary care and pharmacy services. Sliding scales are based on income and family size.Note: RVH accepts commercial insurance and TennCare insurance.
