Japanese Sensu Fan Making
In Japanese culture, fans have conveyed social status, been included in ceremonies, and even used as weapons by the Samurai. From the colors to the symbols to the folds, every part of the fan holds meaning. The very act of opening the fan symbolizes prosperity and the various paths of life. (Like the path that has led you to MC, perhaps?)
Join us as we use the sensu fan as a canvas of artistic expression to the life unfolding before you at Maryville College. All Maryville College students, faculty, and staff are welcome. Supplies limited to the first 20 participants. Please avoid wearing white, as we will be working with black ink that could stain clothing.
