Orientation at Maryville College will ensure that you get to know your classmates, learn about college resources and opportunities, and start the semester confident, prepared, and excited for what’s to come. Depending on your student type and entry term, you will participate in various Orientation programming ahead of the start of your classes to prepare you for your Maryville College experience.
First-Time College
Student Pathways
Most first-time students:
- Summer SOAR
- New Scots Orientation
- First Year Seminar (3-credit fall semester course)
First-time students over the age of 21, veterans, student parents, and other non-traditional students:
- Summer SOAR
- Choose:
- New Scots Orientation
- NSO Fast Track
- First Year Seminar (3-credit fall semester course)
Transfer Student
Pathways
Transfer students with less than 12 college credit hours:
- Summer SOAR
- New Scots Orientation
- First Year Seminar (3-credit fall semester course)
Transfer students with at least 12 college credit hours:
- Summer SOAR
- Choose:
- New Scots Orientation
- NSO Fast Track plus Transfer Orientation 120 (1-credit fall semester course)
Spring Student
Pathways
First-time and transfer students enrolling in January:
- Spring Orientation
- First Year Seminar (3-credit semester course for first-time students/transfer students with less than 12 credit hours) or
- Orientation 120 (1-credit semester course for transfer students with at least 12 credit hours)
