Highlander Chorale to begin rehearsals Sept. 9

*UPDATE: Highlander Chorale will be on hiatus for the fall semester. Details about the spring semester will be announced at a later date

Aug. 24, 2021

The Highlander Chorale, a community choral ensemble of high school students, will begin fall rehearsals for its 2021-22 season on Thurs., Sept. 9.

The group rehearses on Thursdays from 4:30 until 6 p.m. in the Harry H. Harter Choral Rehearsal Room. Hannah Strong, choral assistant for Maryville College, is the director of the ensemble.

Rehearsals will be held both virtually and in person, based on CDC recommendations and college policies. The College is monitoring the federal and local health agencies as they continue to modify their recommendations regarding COVID-19 safety – and may have to make short or medium-term adjustments in its ensemble policies in response. Ensemble policies will be communicated by the director.

Fall rehearsals will focus on music that “inspires and brings beauty into focus” through the program theme, “I See Colors.”

The registration fee is $85 per student each semester, and discounts are offered for siblings. Some scholarships are available and may be granted at the discretion of the director. To register, please visit maryvillecollege.edu/youth-choirs.

For students interested in participating in All East Chorus auditions through Highlander Chorale, please join the Highlander Zoom Room (https://bit.ly/3ACHp2P) on the following Thursdays from 5 until 6 p.m. for audition prep and coaching sessions: August 26 and Sept. 2. Please contact the director as soon as possible to receive All East auditions materials and to ensure registration confirmation. Spots for All East auditions must be reserved by Fri., Sept. 3. Auditions are in person and will be held on Sat., Sept. 18, and additional fees apply.
