MC’s Honaker Field receives new football scoreboard
Oct. 5, 2021

Maryville College’s Honaker Field now has a new scoreboard, thanks to the generosity of MC alumnus Jason Brooks ’97 and LDA Engineering.
Brooks, president/CEO of LDA Engineering, is a member of the Maryville College Board of Directors, past president of the Maryville College Alumni Association, and a former MC student-athlete.
The scoreboard, which was installed over the summer, was dedicated on Oct. 2, prior to the home football game against Southern Virginia University. Brooks was joined on the field by his daughter, Mary-James, and son, Hall, for the recognition.
Honaker Field has been home to many student-athletes over the years. It was completed in 1950 and named for longtime Athletic Director and Football Coach Lombe Honaker, who led MC athletics from 1921 until 1959. In addition to the new scoreboard, the field also received another upgrade this summer, as part of recent athletics facilities upgrades: new goal posts, which were erected in August.
“We are grateful for alums like Jason who invest into our athletic program,” said Maryville College Athletic Director Sara Quatrocky. “Our new scoreboard has added to the overall game day experience and provided a fresh, modernized look to the Scots’ endzone. We look forward to see it light up for many years to come.”
