Maryville College earns 2022-2023 Military Friendly® School Designation
March 10, 2022

Maryville College has been recognized as a Military Friendly® School for 2022-2023, a status that recognizes the College’s commitment to and success in offering a place in the student population for veterans and military-related applicants.
It’s the seventh such recognition in as many years from Viqtory, considered a standard-setter for colleges providing positive employment and education outcomes for veterans and their families.
Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. More than 1,800 schools participated in the 2022-2023 survey with 665 earning special awards for going above the standard. Maryville College earned a “Gold” status designation, given to only 282 schools nationwide “for their leading practices, outcomes and effective programs.”
The Military Friendly recognition is one designation that most vets consider when deciding to pursue a degree from an institution,” said MC’s Dave Daniels ’20, director of military outreach and transfer recruiting, and himself a veteran of the U.S. Navy. “The designation makes us veterans feel as if our presence at these schools will be valued, and that our contributions and experiences — both in and out of uniform — will be welcomed.”
Methodology, criteria and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining Maryville College’s survey scores with assessments of the College’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates for all students, and specifically for student veterans.
The 2022-2023 Military Friendly® Schools list will be published in the May and October issue of G.I. Jobs magazine and can be found at www.militaryfriendly.com.
Maryville College accepts military Tuition Assistance (TA), veteran education benefits, TN Strong Act, Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E Chapter 31) and other veteran educational benefits. Additionally, MC offers a unique level of support with its MC Helping Heroes Scholarship for those military members who have not accrued 100 percent of VA education benefits. The College also provides academic credit for formal military training, accommodations for those with disabilities and career placement assistance for veterans.
“To the veterans and prospective student veterans considering Maryville College as their next duty station on their journey to their chosen vocation, a ‘Gold’ ranking as a Military Friendly® college only adds to the allure of being on an inclusive, diverse, and intimate college campus,” Daniels said. “I look forward to assisting veteran applicants and veterans already enrolled at Maryville College in any capacity I’m able.”
