Maryville College taps Rebecca Blalock as new registrar
Feb. 20, 2026

For more than 20 years, Dr. Rebecca Blalock has served in higher education administration. Now, Blalock brings that experience to Maryville College as the new registrar.
Before coming to MC, Blalock has served in various associate, academic and regional dean roles. She has a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga and a Ph.D. in management with a focus on organizational leadership from the University of Phoenix. Additionally, she has spent 14 years as an adjunct faculty member teaching in online and traditional in-person classrooms.
“Blalock’s wide-ranging experience in higher education helps her understand the importance of the registrar’s office,” Vice President and Dean of the College Dr. Liz Perry-Sizemore said. “That includes providing student support and navigating the intricacies of the registrar’s office’s relationship to other departments at the College.”
Early in her career, Blalock worked for a global enterprise software company where she facilitated software product training and led several services-related lines of business.
As registrar, Blalock’s role includes maintaining the integrity and security of the College’s academic records and accurately interpreting its academic policies.
The Office of the Registrar certifies enrollment, academic progress and graduation. It also facilitates the production of course schedules for registration, evaluates transfer credits, provides degree audits, and certifies students for veterans’ benefits.
“Blalock understands the importance of smooth, well-functioning systems to the student experience,” Perry-Sizemore said. “She’s skilled at studying them, improving them and communicating about them clearly and carefully.”
Blalock was drawn to Maryville College’s rich history and strong community, she said.
“While the registrar role was a strong professional fit,” Blalock added, “Maryville College’s Mission Statement and Faith and Learning Statement connected with me. Rev. Isaac Anderson’s call to ‘do good on the largest possible scale’ resonated deeply. It’s a commitment to service that goes beyond just doing your job well.”
Blalock said she looks forward to building on the strong foundation laid by previous administrators and to serving students with excellence.
“I love the warm welcome I have received here,” Blalock said. “I look forward to supporting and celebrating student success.”
The Office of the Registrar is located on the first floor of Fayerweather Hall. The office is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday; for additional information, call 865-981-8212.
