Vice President for Admissions and Financial Aid

Alayne Bowman began her duties as Maryville College’s vice president for admissions and financial aid Sept. 10, 2018.

As vice president for admissions and financial aid, Bowman oversees and manages all programs and initiatives related to the recruitment of new students, provides oversight for the financial aid office and is responsible for new student enrollment management. She also serves as the senior staff liaison to the admissions committee of the College’s Board of Directors.

Bowman joined the College’s staff in 2004 as an admissions counselor. In 2008, she was promoted to senior assistant director of admissions and transfer coordinator, then associate director of financial aid in 2009. In 2015, she was promoted to director of financial aid.

She holds a doctorate of education degree in higher education and a master of education degree with a concentration in educational leadership from Lincoln Memorial University. Her undergraduate degree in social work was earned at East Carolina University.

In addition to membership with the state, regional and national associations for student financial aid administrators, Bowman has served as a member of the Board of Directors for CASA of the Tennessee Heartland. She has also completed TICUAA executive leadership institute c/o 2022 and is currently serving on the Association of Presbyterian Colleges and Universities leadership institute 

On the Maryville College campus, she has served on the College’s Planning, Budgeting and Advisory Board and the College’s Staff Council, serving as chair in 2015-2016.

In 2014, Bowman received the College’s Sharon A. Murphy Crane Distinguished Service Award, which is awarded annually to a member of the staff who has demonstrated the spirit of service and commitment to the general good of the College that characterized Crane’s eight years as a College employee. It is considered the College’s most prestigious award for staff members.

She is married to Noah Bowman, director for academic support at the College.
