2025 Tax Form 1098-T
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) requires Maryville College to report payments received for qualified tuition and expenses and scholarships and grants invoiced or posted to student accounts on Form 1098-T. The 1098-T is an information return that assists students in computing certain education tax credits or deductions for which they may be eligible when they file annual tax returns.
1098-Ts will be provided to students by the end of each January. Students requesting a mailed copy of the form are required to email billing@maryvillecollege.edu. We do not mail copies of 1098-Ts to home addresses without written consent.
How to Retrieve Your 1098-T Form
Students can access their 1098-T form on the Highlander Hub. The documents will be available to download and print. We do not provide 1098-T forms to parents.
Please note – Maryville College is unable to provide individual tax advice. If you have questions, we recommend seeking a tax professional or a CPA for assistance. If you did not receive a 1098-T from via mail or electronically and believe you qualify to receive one form Maryville College, please contact the Bursar at billing@maryvillecollege.edu.

What is Form 1098-T?
We are required by the IRS to provide the 1098-T to student for whom qualified tuition and fees were paid during the calendar year.
Why did I receive the 1098-T?
The 1098-T has been provided to assist the taxpayer in determining if you the individual, or who may claim you as a dependent, are eligible to claim the Lifetime Learning Credit on the income tax return.
Why did I NOT receive the 1098-T?
The IRS does not require colleges and universities to send one if you scholarships and aid exceeded the invoiced amount.
Where was my form mailed?
Your 1098-T form was mailed (if applicable) based on the address listed on the Highlander Hub. Students are responsible for updating mailing addresses in the Highlander Hub. Maryville College is not responsible for forms mailed to incorrect addresses.
What about housing and meals and books? Why are these fees not included in the billed amount?
Only qualified tuition and related expenses are reported on the 1098-T. Please consult your tax professional with questions regarding ‘qualified expenses’.
What do amounts on the form represent?
Box 1 includes payments made towards qualified expenses during the calendar year. Box 5 shows the total of all scholarships or grants processed by Maryville College. While these numbers may look very strange, we assure students and their families these numbers are correct.
