Remote: KT Grocery Store

Project Leader: Anita Baker Lerman ’82

MC Alum Anita Baker Lerman ’82, has been helping to support the work of the Mama Solly Foundation after meeting Solly in Victoria Falls Zimbabwe two years ago. In addition to providing support for young girls to access education, the Mama Solly Foundation helps local women villagers enhance their economic stability and inspires entrepreneurship. In 2025, Anita supported Mama Solly as a KT Global project and Mama Solly used the funds to establish the KT Grocery Store in a remote village. Funds were used to buy refrigeration equipment and  stock for the store and to provide spaces for local women to sell their own products.

The financial support for the grocery store, in an area where shops are very limited, helps provide upkeep, food and other resources, for the local workers who in turn make and sell things that generate their own income.  Mama Solly’s approach is very much in keeping with Isaac Anderson’s – she is always working to do good on the largest possible scale.
