Dave Daniels ’20 has been promoted to director of military outreach and transfer recruiting. He joined the Maryville College staff in February 2021 as military recruiting and outreach counselor.

A United States Navy veteran and native of Philadelphia, Pa., Daniels earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Maryville College in 2020. Before joining the Maryville College staff, he was a U.S. Navy recruiter for Navy Recruiting District Philadelphia. In that role, he led a team of 17 Navy recruiters in procurement of more than 400 highly qualified officers and enlisted personnel in the regular and reserve components of the U.S. Navy.

He also served the U.S. Navy as project manager for Naval Network Warfare Command (NETWARCOM), the U.S. Navy’s information operations, intelligence, networks and space unit. As security operations leading petty officer for the USS Theodore Roosevelt, Daniels led a team of 122 law enforcement personnel, including physical security practices, anti-terrorism force protection and daily operations.

In his new role, Daniels is responsible for the direct recruiting of transfer students, veterans and military dependents; coordinating veteran support activities and resources; acting as the primary contact for veteran services and issues related to military-affiliated students; providing staff advisor support to the Student Veteran Association; developing and implementing campus-wide education for faculty and staff on student veteran-related topics and Green Zone training; and collaborating with the registrar, Business Office and Financial Aid for the facilitation of VA benefits.

“Dave has been an incredible resource to our students and a fantastic addition to our admissions team,” said Alayne Bowman, vice president for admissions and financial aid. “He has had a direct impact on our recruiting practices and has served as a positive presence for our current veteran students. To me, Dave’s most valuable trait is his ability to work with all populations and make connections at each and every level. He is that ‘dream’ employee who takes on all challenges, knows when to ask for help, and is constantly providing new ideas and initiatives. He has increased our new student veteran enrollment from fall 2020 to fall 2021 by 250 percent! He is engaged and accessible to all students, and he is an invaluable team player!”
