Trillium and Friends to perform Oct. 2

The Maryville College Division of Fine Arts will present Trillium and Friends on Sat., Oct. 2, 2021 at 7:30 p.m. in the Clayton Center for the Arts’ Harold and Jean Lambert Recital Hall on the Maryville College campus.

“Trillium, a piano trio, played one of the last concerts before the Clayton Center was closed, and, after 19 months of public silence, are delighted to return with a concert of live music,” said Dr. Robert Bonham, a member of Trillium.

The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required for admission. Tickets are limited and available on a first come, first-served basis. The program features “Haydn’s Trio in G,” including the familiar “Gypsy Rondo,” the “Dumky Trio” by Dvorak, and, with the addition of a violist, the “Piano Quartet in G” by Brahms (this also includes a Rondo in a “Gypsy” style).

Trillium, now in its seventh year, has played for audiences from Maryland to North Dakota, Virginia and North Carolina, in addition to numerous performances in Blount, Knox and Anderson counties.

Alison Maerker Garner, violinist, has performed throughout the U.S. and South America. She teaches using a variety of modalities (Suzuki, Kodaly and Dalcroze) and has been published in a variety of journals. Her book series, Musical Minds, introduces students to music in the context of all the arts.

Alicia Randisi-Hooker, cellist, has performed throughout the United States and Europe. Her students have won prizes, scholarships and competitions both nationally and internationally. Believing that music can educate the whole child, enriching whole lifetimes, she also spends countless hours in community outreach to advocate for music education and chamber music performance.

Dr. Robert Bonham, pianist, is professor emeritus of music at Maryville College and a recipient of the Maryville College Outstanding Teacher Award. He presents a variety of workshops nationally to enhance wellness and performance, and also enjoys leading groups to explore India or sail the Greek seas.

Sara Lee-Cho, violist, has performed professionally with chamber and symphony orchestras in three countries, including the Vancouver, Charleston and Birmingham Symphonies, the UNISINOS Chamber Orchestra in Sao Leopoldo, Brazil, and the ARCO Chamber Orchestra, with whom she performed as soloist at Carnegie Hall.
