Jan. 27, 2023

Maryville College seniors Gabriel Bailey ’23 and Connor Cowart ’23 will present a joint senior recital titled “A Tribute to The Arts” at 6 p.m. Feb. 16.
The recital, which is free and open to the public, will take place in the Harold and Jean Lambert Recital Hall of the Clayton Center for the Arts on the MC campus. A reception will follow the performance.
The program will include the following selections: “Dolente immagine di Fille mia” by Bellini; “The Boatman’s Dance” by Copland; “Ich liebe dich” by Liszt, “Amorosi miei giorni” by Donaudy; and selections from Brahms, Finzi, Purcell, Schumann, Britten, Hahn, Wolf, Menken, Strauss, Scarlatti, Fauré and Miranda. Chase Hatmaker ’14 will collaborate on the piano.
“Throughout my time here as a music major, these songs have been deeply inspiring for my taste in music and desire to perfect my craft,” Bailey said.

“These songs have been so important for me through my musical journey at Maryville College,” Cowart added. “They have been the inspiration to work on new and better techniques for my voice and to learn about the history and culture of that style of music. These are the pieces that I have worked on since I got here, and I’m so excited to get to share them with you.”
Both seniors expressed gratitude to their voice instructors, Noelle Brundige and Marjorie Bennett Stephens, for their mentorship over the course of their college music careers.
Bailey, a Vocal Music Education major with Licensure from Maryville, is a 2019 graduate of Heritage High School. Cowart, a Vocal Music Education major with Licensure from Knoxville, is a 2019 graduate of Bearden High School.
