Maryville College has earned the Silver-level Military Friendly® School designation for 2025-26.

This recognition is considered a standard-setter for colleges providing positive employment and education outcomes for veterans and their families.

The 2025-2026 Military Friendly Schools list will be published in the May and October issue of G.I. Jobs Magazine and found at www.militaryfriendly.com.

Ratings for Military Friendly® Schools are assessed through the evaluation of both public data about the institution and proprietary data gathered through organizational surveys provided to institutions nationwide. Each year, schools taking the survey are held to a higher standard than in previous years via improved methodology, criteria and weightings developed with the assistance of an independent research firm and the Military Friendly® Advisory Council, according to a press release.

The Military Friendly® School with Silver distinction “represents overall survey scores that fall above 21%+ or score at or above .21+ and have three or more qualifying benchmarks,” according to militaryfriendly.com.

“Maryville College is committed to providing an academic environment where student veterans, and dependents of veterans thrive and excel to achieve academic success that benefits their personal and professional development,” said Dr. Jim Getman, a 24-year veteran of the U.S. Navy and director of veteran and military services at Maryville College.

“According to a recent survey of student veterans, MC is an attractive academic environment because of the smaller class sizes, geographic location, and the outstanding support services available on campus for veterans and military dependents,” Getman said.

Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by Viqtory with input from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.

“Military Friendly® is committed to transparency and providing consistent data-driven standards in our designation process,” said Kayla Lopez, vice president of Military Friendly®. “Our standards provide a benchmark that promotes positive outcomes and support services that better the educational landscape and provide opportunity for the Military Community. This creates a competitive atmosphere that encourages Institutions to evolve and invest in their programs consistently. Schools that achieve awards designation show true commitment in their efforts, exceeding the standard.”

Maryville College (MC) accepts military Tuition Assistance (TA), Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits, TN Strong Act benefits and other veteran educational benefits. Additionally, MC offers a unique level of support with its MC Helping Heroes Scholarship for those military members who have not accrued 100 percent of VA education benefits. The College also provides academic credit for formal military training, accommodations for those with disabilities and career placement assistance for veterans.
