Prospective college students invited to ‘Meet Maryville’ on Nov. 11 at Maryville College
Nov. 6, 2023
A record number of potential Scots have registered to “Meet Maryville” on Nov. 11, but the Admissions team at Maryville College wants aspiring college students to know: There’s always room for more.
“We’re still in the early stages of the Fall 2024 admissions cycle, but we have a record number of registrants scheduled to join us on Nov. 11 to discover why we’re the perfect fit for them,” said Kelly Massenzo, director of undergraduate admissions and events. “Coming off of one of the best enrollment years in decades, the buzz about Maryville College is bigger than ever, and we want to show those in the college search how this school will prepare them for success.”
Hosted by Maryville College’s Admissions Office, Meet Maryville will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is designed to help prospective students and their families explore what makes the nationally ranked College unique: providing students with an educational experience that prepares them for anything, connects them with alumni and peers all over the globe and sets them up for success in any career they choose. Throughout the day, the Admissions team will be available to discuss financial aid opportunities and to guide students and parents through the application and enrollment process.
“In East Tennessee and beyond, the name Maryville College is associated with academic excellence, but Meet Maryville is a chance for interested students to see how much more there is to life and learning on our campus,” Massenzo said. “We have an exciting Athletics program for student-athletes, and students and their families will have an opportunity to watch the 6-2 football team play its final game of the season on Honaker Field against Southern Virginia University. In addition to celebrating our senior players and cheerleaders during the game, we will recognize our student-veterans, as this is also Veterans Day.
“The Meet Maryville event itself will take place in the Clayton Center for the Arts, a performing arts complex that’s one of the nicest in East Tennessee. From experiential learning opportunities on campus and in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park — only 20 minutes from campus! — to internships with some of the area’s most innovative companies and reputable organizations, there’s so much that Maryville College can provide, and we’re excited to share all of that information with prospective students and their family members on Nov. 11.”
To commemorate Veterans Day, veterans and veteran-affiliated family members attending Meet Maryville will be recognized, and Admissions team members will provide enrollment information for veteran students and their family members as well. In addition, Massenzo said, personalized breakout sessions will highlight competitive scholarship information, including tips for applying and interviewing for Maryville College’s top awards, and an information panel for first-generation college students.
“It’s exciting to see such a growing interest in Maryville College, and we feel that’s proof of what those of us who come to work here every day understand: That when you step foot on campus for the first time, there’s a sense of tradition, scholarship, integrity and respect at Maryville College that opens up a world of possibilities,” Massenzo said. “At Meet Maryville, attendees will get an in-depth overview of the programs of study, campus life, financial aid and scholarships and so many other things that make the College unique.”
The Nov. 11 event will provide attendees with an immersive exploration of the College’s various academic divisions, as well as an opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge about student life clubs and organizations and opportunities for engagement through an abundance of resources centered around faith, learning and community engagement, disability and accessibility resources, academic support, athletics, career and internship preparation, study abroad and global engagement opportunities and mental health counseling and support.

Other opportunities to visit announced
An additional Meet Maryville Saturday will take place on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For students and family members who cannot attend a Meet Maryville, Massenzo said her office offers several other options to visit campus.
During the academic year (September through April), the Office of Admissions offers tours Monday through Friday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. ET. Saturday tours will be offered through the end of the year at 10:30 a.m. ET on Nov. 18 and Dec. 2 and 9.
“Even if they attend a Meet Maryville, we encourage students to schedule an individual visit at a later date, which can be more personalized,” Massenzo said. “Visits that allow students to sit in on a class that relates to their area of interest and talk to faculty members who teach in their areas of interest really help prospective students answer that question of ‘fit’ — ‘Am I a good fit for Maryville College?’ ‘Is Maryville a good fit for me?’”For more information about scheduling a campus tour, please call 865.981.8092 or visit maryvillecollege.edu/visit.
