Dear KT’ers,

Thanks to all of you for your hard work and flexibility during our 27th year of KT service on the Maryville College campus. As always, the three days were a wonderful and productive time as we came together, in friendship, to honor the KT legacy and our shared commitment to the College. As the KT Days tradition continues, your accomplishments are a testament to the spirit of service that is so much a part of the Maryville College community.

During the three days of June 10-12, more than 1,900 hours were spent on meaningful projects by the 107 KT volunteers. This year we caught up on a number of projects that had been on the KT list for a number of years, continued a number of ongoing projects, and completed a special archives project.

As we saw last year, a significant portion of you were first time participants in KT Days, nearly 25%. We also saw the continued willingness of KT’ers to move from team to team to help ensure completion of all of this year’s projects.

This year, you:

  • Built a new bridge over Duncan Branch to the College Woods amphitheater
  • Built a new safety and screening fence around the Grounds Department material pad
  • Installed under penning on the main soccer stairs
  • Repaired the Sutton Science outdoor classroom picnic tables
  • Built a storage rack for the outdoor classroom
  • Stained the outdoor stairs from the soccer field to the track area
  • Painted the Alexander House porch
  • Painted the drawing teaching space in Clayton Center B
  • Stained the two College Woods information kiosks
  • Stained various outdoor items across campus
  • Removed and treated invasive English Ivy in the College Woods
  • Refreshed and weeded numerous campus landscape locations
  • Cataloged and preserved a large collection of Physical Plant drawings and archive
  • Began the brewing process for the candidates for the commemorative beer to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Alumni Association

This is an outstanding list of improvements, in service to your continued commitment to the KT legacy. This work would also not be possible without the continued support of the MC administration, Advancement and Alumni Offices, and the Facilities Operations team. Thank you to these groups for supporting the planning and execution of KT Days each year.

Thanks for all your efforts to ‘give back” your time and talents to Maryville College in the spirit of Ken Takahashi. If not before, I hope to see you at MC Homecoming October 10-12, 2025, as we celebrate another year of Maryville College’s rich history.

Go Scots!
