Class of 2000
Jennifer Mason will serve as an interim District 3 Williamson County (Spring Hill, TN) commissioner. The Williamson County Commission unanimously appointed Mason on Sept. 11, 2018. Class of 2011
Wrote to say he attended as a freshman in 2007 and still considers Maryville one of the crowning achievements in his life. He said he is honored to have attended this College.
Class of 1970
Continues teaching music as emeritus professor at Culver-Stockton College and serves on the Boards of such arts organizations as the Canton Area Arts Council, Muddy River Opera Company, Quincy Civic Music Association, and Lewis County Playhouse. She still sings regularly, gives Opera Insight lectures, writes program notes for regional symphony orchestra and concert series performances, and directs the C-SC Opera Workshop.

Everett Cleveland ’17 and Eleni Mavres ’17 were engaged at Maryville College on March 29, 2020 where they first met and began dating back in 2014.

recently lost her husband, William J. “Bill” McBrayer on August 19, 2013.
Class of 1995
Dr. Shedrick McCall class of 95′ is currently writing a book about about his catastrophic injury experience while playing football at Maryville College. Dr. McCall is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Faculty Athletic Rep at Virginia State University and a Forensic Psychologist at Central State Hospital. Dr. Shedrick McCall is married to Dr. Shannon McCall and they have two children Shedrick, III (23) and Madison (6).
Class of 1966
Dr. Hugh McCampbell has received the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient from the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA). Founded in 1909, the TVMA is committed to advancing Tennessee’s veterinary medical profession through an engaged membership to promote animal wellness and to protect public health. This award is presented to a veterinarian who has generously contributed to the advancement of TVMA, Tennessee’s veterinary community, and the profession for at least thirty (30) years. Criteria include: public acceptance, civic participation, professional knowledge, and activities with fellow veterinarians. An individual may only receive this award once. has received his MA and MSSW and is Director of Operations at Home Helpers of East TN (Senior Care, New Moms, Recuperative Care, and Continuing Care).

Graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with a MS in Information Technology.
Class of 2000
During the 34th Annual Daily Times Academic Awards on May 6, 2019, Penny Blackwood Ferguson ’69 and Adriel McCord ’00 were inducted into the Daily Times Wall of Fame, which recognizes professional achievement and community involvement. Ferguson is a nationally recognized teacher at Maryville High School, and McCord is vice president of First Tennessee Bank.
Class of 2000
Adriel McCord will receive the 2024 Community Leadership Award on April 16.
Leadership Blount created the award in 2000 to recognize individuals for sustained actions and leadership that reflect a commitment to lifelong service.
McCord will be recognized at a Community Leadership Award Dinner on April 16 at the Clayton Center for the Arts for all Leadership Blount dues-paying alumni and special guests.
A native of LaGrange, Georgia, McCord came to Tennessee in 1996 to attend Maryville College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business and organizational management.
He began his banking career in 2001 and is currently vice president and private client relationship manager at First Horizon Bank in Maryville.
McCord began serving in the Blount County community early in his career as a volunteer for United Way of Blount County. For many years, he volunteered in United Way’s community fundraising campaign and later served on the board of directors. In 2020, he was recognized as “Board Member of the Year.”
In 2022 he and his wife, Nichole, served as co-campaign chairs for the 2022 United Way of Blount County community fundraising campaign.
Adriel McCord is a member of the Leadership Blount Class of 2004 and later served as a board member and board chair for Leadership Blount.
Currently he serves on numerous boards, including the Maryville College Board of Directors, Blount Chamber Partnership and Fellowship of Christian Athletes for the Smoky Mountain Area. He also co-chairs the Blount County MLK Celebration Committee, a committee he has served on for more than 15 years.
He previously served as board member for the Maryville City Schools Foundation.
In addition to serving in official capacities for local organizations, McCord has routinely given of his time to teach financial literacy to students in schools, the after-school program at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center in Alcoa, Project HOPE and the Richard Williams Jr. Leadership Academy.
McCord also has served as a small group co-leader at Foothills Church in Maryville, and he has volunteered his talents to serve as a master of ceremonies and DJ at many local community events.
Based on his commitment and service to the community, McCord has been recognized by many community organizations through the years.
He is the 24th recipient of the Community Leadership Award.
Leadership Blount educates and inspires current and emerging leaders to engage in active, lifelong service. The nonprofit’s programs include Leadership Blount, Discover Blount and Leadership Roundtable.

April Proffitt McCroskey was awarded the 2018 Pro Bono Service award by the Tennessee Supreme Court in October of 2018.
Class of 1999
has joined the faculty of Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina as an assistant professor of education. She has a Ph.D. in education/literary studies from the University of Tennessee, an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from Tusculum College, a B.A. in English from Maryville College and an A.A. in Elementary Education from Pellissippi State Community College.
Class of 1999
graduated UTK in 2015 with a doctorate in Education with a concentration in Literacy Studies. In August 2015, she accepted an assistant professor of education position at Francis Marion University in Florence, SC.
Class of 1946
wrote to let the College know that she left Maryville in 1945 to attend the University of Iowa, since she had taken all the courses in her field of drama/theatre that were available at the time. Professor West was her advisor and principal teacher, and she admired her greatly. Thelma received a BFA from Iowa and a Masters in Education from Eastern Michigan University. She was hired by Eastern in the Drama department, where she retired as a professor in the late 80’s. During the 1980’s, she attended the University Of Michigan, where she completed 40 hours of graduate work in Drama/Theatre.
Class of 1977
retired from government service in December 2012. She looking around for what’s next which will probably include a move to Wester North Carolina where my mother, Joy Corrigan McGill (class of ’40) is residing.

As my mother, Joy Corrigan McGill (class of ’40), was going in to a local assisted living center, I moved to Brevard in May. It is a college town but there is a difference between Evanston, Illinois and Brevard, North Carolina. But I guess I am adjusting. I still have a garage full of books I have yet to find shelf space for.
Class of 1998
was recently propmoted to Associate Head Coach of the Men’s Basketball team and Director of College Access abd Admissions at LaGrange College. David also just received his Masters degree in Education in Curriculatin and Instruction from LaGrange College in 2014.

and wife Grace announced the birth of their second grandson, Owen Wayne Landmann, on January 8, 2014.
Class of 2004
has accepted a position working at the White House in the Council on Environmental Quality. McInnis will serve as a Senior Program Manager in a new position that coordinates several teams, including the Office of Federal Sustainability, which directs all federal government entities on efficient and sustainable practices, as well as the Climate Preparedness Team, which leads the implementation of President Obama’s overarching Climate Action Plan. Additionally, McInnis will be managing over a dozen climate change and sustainability pilots across the country. Prior to this position, McInnis served as communications director, managed EPA’s partnerships with tribal colleges, and served as EPA’s point of contact for several White House Councils. After graduating from Maryville with a degree in environmental studies and piano performance, McInnis served as a trail crew team leader in Alaska and received her Masters of Science in Environmental Science and Policy from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. McInnis lives on Capitol Hill with her husband, Ariel, and cattle dog, Petal. She currently serves on the Alumni Board and co-founded the Washington, D.C. Alumni Chapter, MC in DC with Robbie Champion, Nicole Winters-Brown, Whitman Brown, and Melanie McGarry.

Carson-Newman announced the hiring of Kevin McKeethan ’07 to be the program’s new quarterbacks coach. McKeethan’s most recent stop was at the University of Tennessee as the program’s Special Teams Quality Control assistant. Class of 2012
Completed her master’s degree at College of Charleston and is a Researcher at the US Environmental Protection Agency in Chapel Hill, NC. The lab group works on lung cellular epigenetic responses to air pollutant exposures (primarily ozone) using in vitro primary cell models and some clinical human exposure studies.

BamaOnline’s Kirk McNair among Alabama Sports Writers Association’s 50 Legends

With the 50-year anniversary of the Alabama Sports Writers Association, the organization is announcing its 50 Legends over the course of March.
Each was selected at the end of an extensive process, which began with nominations from the ASWA membership, and numerous rounds of voting by the selection committee, which was primarily made up of the sitting executive council.
The 50 [were] honored during the 2022 ASWA Awards Banquet on June 12 in Birmingham.

McNair has twice served as president of the Alabama Sports Writers Association and been inducted into its Hall of Fame.
He joined the Birmingham Post-Herald in 1967 and was named assistant sports editor in 1969. In 1970, McNair left to join the Alabama sports information department and in 1974 was named sports information director.
He left Alabama following the 1978 season to start ’BAMA Magazine and later BamaMag.com. He sold both in 2002 but continued to work both for various owners including BamaOnLine. He’s covered over 600 Alabama football games. His books include “What It Means To Be Crimson Tide” and “Gamechangers: The Greatest Plays in Alabama Football History.”
Class of 2010
graduated with a Doctor od Veterniary Medicne (DMV) in May of 2014 and was selected for a zoological medicne intership at LSU where she will be living in Baton Rouge zoo to launch her career in zoo, wildlife and conservation medicine.

recently took a job as the Grundy Safe Communities Coalition Coordinator. They are a coalition that targets underage drinking, tobacco use, and non medial prescription drug use in Grundy County.
