Marietta College announced the hiring of Kristy Newman ’14 as the Pioneers’ new head volleyball coach. Newman becomes the 12th head coach in program history. Joshua Noah graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary in May 2015 with both his Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Christian Education degrees. He was ordained as a Teaching Elder in the PCUSA on July 18, 2015 by the Presbytery of Giddings-Lovejoy and currently serves as solo pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church in Crystal City, MO – outside of St. Louis.

Rev. Joshua Noah was recently called to serve as the part-time pastor of Open Table United Church of Christ and also the part-time Campus Minister for UKirk South Alabama, in Mobile, AL. He and his partner, Lawrence Leto, live in Gulf Shores and enjoy spending time at the beach.

Received Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in Global Leadership from Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL, in May of 2014. Dissertation research in Corporate Social Responsibility by Small Business for Economic Value. Began own Global Management Consulting Firm named CNoeLimits, LLC in 2014 as a Nonprofit & Social Enterprise Advisor working with corporate and nonprofit enterprises.

Joe Norskov ’08 has been given a local award — 2019 Knoxville Class of Rising Stars from Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. He is motivated by engineering alumnus, Chris Allen ’09. Joe and Chris met at Maryville and are still friends today. Chris has been fighting Cystic Fibrosis his whole life. Joe is currently in 1st place for the class of 9 Rising Stars: Here’s Joe’s blog post he wrote with more information

Joe Norskov’s L&N STEM Academy ultimate frisbee team placed 7th in the nation in June while competing at an invite-only national high school tournament in Rockford, Illinois sponsored By UP Cleats and Discraft.

Bonnie Holsinger O'Donnell

Bonnie has recently begun a job as director of a co-occuring residential rehabilitation recovery center for people who identify as LGBTQ+ in Holyoke, MA. She became a Quaker 20 years ago now and continues to be active in civil rights issues. She is happy to have moved to MA and now lives within 45 minutes of her two grandsons. Bonnie continues to sing and play the guitar and now has three cds of her own and has participated in several compilation projects. She sings with the Springfield College Community Chorus.

Shada Overton

Shada Overton ’76 successfully defended her dissertation on July 23, 2018 to be conferred with a Doctorate in Business Admininstration specializing in Criminal Justice. Her intent is to continue teaching on the college level, as she has been for over 30 years, and now she will also be able to teach upper level Criminal Justice and Business courses.

is now the drummer for the country music band, “Little Big Town.” He came to campus in April to speak to the football team just after a TV performance on CBS.

Neale J. Pearson

General Notes

In August 2016, Dr. Pearson visited with David and Sue Grubbs (’51, ’53) in Murfreesboro, TN and Newell Witherspoon ’52 in Huntsville, AL. He will be giving lectures at the Universidad de Concepcion, Chile, in January 2017 after successful laser repair of a leaky blood vessel in his left eye in Oct. 2016.

Olson Pemberton

Peacefully and actively retired in Brazil at the age of 93, where he came from in 1947 as a Presbyterian Missionary with is first wife and a MC classmate, Jean Patterson who passed away in1996. Rev. Pemberton has family in Brazil (2 sons with their wives, 2 “grands’, 1 “grand”-in-law, and 3 great ‘grands’) and in the US (2 daughters & 1 son, all married, and 5 ‘grands’ of whom two are married). Therefore, he does a lot of travel to see the family.

Bill Pennock ’59 is celebrating sixty ears as a minister. Ordained by Union Presbytery at the Greenback, Tennessee church in December 1963.  Bill served a variety of Congregations.  He earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from McCormick Seminary fifty years ago.  He now lives at THE LONG (Presbyterian) Community in Lancaster, PA.

Edward Peterson

General Notes

Ed Peterson ’76 is retired now after a career in youth ministry and Christian education. After post-graduate work at Columbia Seminary, the Presbyterian School for Christian Education, and degree and certification work at Princeton Seminary, Ed had a long career serving churches as a youth minister and Christian Educator. He just published a two-volume book about his great grandfather, John Moore Lancaster, and the Civil War, called, “When Glory Comes Late, True Stories of a Civil War Soldier, by Sunbury Press. All royalties will be donated to the Gary Sinise Foundation for Veteran care.

retired from teaching an adult High School Class after all these years. Her Husband, had owned citrus trees all these years and after the freeze in 1975, they said it was time to retire and they did. They have had visitors from all over the continents in their home but since her husband passed in 2000 their son and his wife have moved into the home.

Joyce A. Pigge

On April 17, at the 2016 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Convention in Kansas City, Missouri, Dr. Joyce Pigge will be inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame in the category of Meritorious Service. Dr. Joyce Pigge, Bethany College, Meritorious Service. On the staff of Bethany College, Joyce has been involved in intercollegiate athletics on the institutional, conference, and national levels for over 45 years. She began her career at Bethany when she pioneered the inception of women’s athletics in the 1970s. Joyce has served Bethany as professor of political science and took on the title of Faculty Athletic Representative in 1979, a position which she has held since. On the conference level, Joyce has been the Eligibility Chair of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference since 1994 and the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference since 2007. She has served as the Eligibility Chair and Faculty Athletics Representative for the KCAC since 1996. Joyce has also been active in her participation with the NAIA, by serving on the National Executive Committee and the National Coordinating Committee.
