Kyla was named head volleyball coach at Emory and Henry College in Emory, Virginia. She spent the past 7 years as head coach at Hendersonville High School in Hendersonville, TN and 6 years as a head coach at Ethos Volleyball Club in Nashville, TN., Kyla has coached all ages groups at Ethos ranging from 5 – 18 year old.

Leslee has been called to be Director of Christian Education at the Presbyterian Church of Bowling Green. Sha has just completed two years as Interim DCE at Davidson College Presbyterian Church in Davidson, NC and she is now looking forward to new adventures in a new call and new state.

Marcia Kling to Become Lifetime Member of Chattanooga Salvation Army Advisory Board On Monday, April 22, Marcia Kling, well-known Chattanooga TV personality, will be awarded a plaque welcoming her as a Lifetime Member of the Chattanooga Salvation Army Advisory Board. The recognition will take place at 12:00 Noon at The Salvation Army located at 1019 North Moore Road across from Brainerd High School. This high honor is only offered to those who have served over fifteen years and have displayed outstanding leadership. “Miss Marcia” began her exceptional tenure of service as an active Board Member in 1976. Marcia Kling is most beloved for 36-years of serving as The Salvation Army’s Annual Thanksgiving Meal Home-Delivery Coordinator. Working alongside her husband, David, they have ensured the preparation, packaging and delivery of hundreds of traditional Thanksgiving Dinners to the needy in our community. The Chattanooga Salvation Army Advisory Board is a group of business leaders and other outstanding citizens who share their vision and leadership in supporting The Salvation Army promise to our community of Doing the Most Good for People in Need.

finally retired after 51 years on the air in Chattanooga. Following retirement, the Scenic City Women’s Network, an organization of women striving to live out their faith in their work lives, presented Marcia with the First Annual Lydia Impact Award” as “An Extraordinary Christian Working Women”

writes in to share that she will retire in June 2020 from North Montco Technical Career Center where she has been a school counselor for the past 24 years. Kathryn and her husband have plans to go on an Alaskan cruise, but due to the pandemic that is on hold.

While Laurie is disappointed that she was not able to make it back for her class reunion in October, she wanted to tell the class hello and that she is alive and well, still substituting in the high school and doing mission work in Costa Rica and Guatemala. She said, “I am the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren and 12 great grands. I will make it to our 70th! Shalom!”

From the Maryville Daily Times Kramer to receive 2015 Good Scout Award The Tuckaleechee District will be honoring Roy Kramer with the 2015 Good Scout Award as he has “exemplified the Scout Oath and Law throughout his life” during a benefit dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at Maryville College Alumni Gym, according to Great Smoky Mountain Council of Boy Scouts of America. Kramer, a native of Maryville and Eagle Scout from Troop 81, is a 1951 graduate of Maryville College and attended University of Michigan to pursue his master’s degree. He served as a high school teacher and football coach in Michigan for 12 years and won three state championships. Kramer then joined Central Michigan University where he coached college football for 13 years with 11 of those years as the head coach. During this time, the GSMC notes in the announcement, Kramer won National Coach of the Year in 1974 and also won the 1974 Division II National Championship. Kramer went on to spend 12 years as Vanderbilt University’s athletic director before being named the sixth commissioner of the Southeastern Conference in 1989, a post he held until retiring in 2002. Additionally, Kramer served six years as a member of the NCAA Basketball Tournament Committee, nine years on the NCAA Infractions Committee, and served as the first coordinator of the Bowl Championship Series for three years. In 2008, he received the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award, which is given to Eagle Scouts who have received extraordinary national-level recognition and have a strong record of volunteering in their community.

I’m so excited to be at this job, and I’m so thankful for all of your counsel while I was at MC.”

The board of trustees of Wake Technical Community College is pleased to welcome Geoff Lang, appointed by Governor Pat McCrory. Lang was sworn in on Tuesday, October 20, as the newest trustee on the 12-member board. Lang is Vice President and General Manager of Global Technology and Operations for MetLife. The company is a global provider of life insurance, annuities, employee benefits and asset management for approximately 100 million customers in nearly 50 countries. Lang is responsible for overall site management at the MetLife Cary campus, community and university relations, talent recruiting, new hire onboarding, and employee support. Prior to MetLife, he worked at IBM for 22 years and at RBC Bank in Raleigh. Lang serves on the boards of the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and the Cary Chamber of Commerce, the Regional Transportation Alliance, and Wake County Habitat for Humanity. He holds a BA in Psychology from Maryville College in Tennessee and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. “Wake Tech is indeed fortunate to have someone with Geoff’s expertise join our board,” says Wake Tech President Dr. Stephen C. Scott. “His broad management experience will be an asset to the college as we continue to expand services and student enrollment.” Lang replaces Gary Salamido, who was recognized at the board’s October 20 meeting for his years of service. Wake Tech is served by 12 trustees, appointed by the governor, the Wake County Board of Commissioners, and the Wake County Board of Education. A Wake Tech student also serves on the board ex-officio. The board of trustees establishes policy, approves the annual budget, and advocates for the college and its programs. Trustees also select the college president.

continues to keep his fingers busy serving as substitute organist in various churches playing 40 Sundays in 2015!
The Paraclete Press has released his composition "Set Me as a Seal" written for the wedding of former Shenandoah University colleague, Donna Gullstrand.
In August James appeared as Peter Quince in Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream, performing for two weekends in the gardens of the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley and in November he appeared as Elgin, the butler, in Winchester Little Theatre's production of Agatha Christie's Spider's Web.
Finally, in January 2016 he performed the role of Jack Jameson in Wendy Wasserstein's play, Third, also at Winchester Little Theatre and conducted his composition "Rejoice in the Lord" written for the ordination service of SU graduate, Karen (King) Cuffie, in San Jose, CA.

James Laster continues to keep busy as a substitute organists for various churches in the area, over 40 Sundays in 2017. In October of 2016, appeared in The Cross Town Bus; played the role of Grandpa in You Can’t Take It With You at Winchester Little Theatre in May 2017,; appeared as Corin, in As You Like It for three Sundays in September in the gardens of the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, and continues to do Standardized Patient Work.

James served as an organ substitute over 40 Sundays at various churches for the year 2017. He continues to work as a Standadized Patient actor for the training of Physicians Assistants. At the request the director of the Arts Chorale of Winchester, made an arrangement of “America the Beautiful” for the ensemble to sing at a service held in April at the Korean Memorial in Winchester. He was commissioned to compose a work for organ, choir, and trumpet to celebrate the retirement of the organist of a local Methodist Church. He played the part of Sir Bernard Humphries in Winchester Little Theatre’s production of The Explorer’s Club, May 11 – 26, 2018.

Huntsville, Ala. – Head Coach Roy Heintz and the UAH women’s basketball program announced the hiring of Amber Lee to be the team’s next assistant coach. Lee comes to the Rocket City after spending three seasons as an assistant at Maryville College in Maryville, Tenn. “I’m very excited to have Amber Lee join my staff,” said Heintz. “She is a rising star in this profession ” with a great basketball IQ at such a young age, a hunger to learn more, a strong teacher on the floor, and an incredibly hard worker in everything she does.” Lee was a four-sport athlete in high school – she participated in basketball, golf, softball and track – before she played basketball for the Scots. After graduating in 2009, Lee served as an assistant at Berry College and returned to Maryville as a member of the coaching staff the following season, and the Scots were quite successful during the next three seasons, employing a system similar to that of the Lady Chargers. “She comes to us from a championship program that was 66-17 over the past three seasons and from an offensive system that is nearly identical to the system we’ve used,” stated Heintz. “Her great personality has made her a talented proven recruiter, and her teaching and hard work has brought her success on the basketball court.” In addition to her duties as the assistant women’s basketball coach, Lee also served as a game event manager for football, soccer and volleyball.
