High School and College Student Resources

We at Maryville College know that you have lots of questions, first and foremost being how to get into a great college of your choice. And we are here to help with that! No matter what type of student you are; whether a current high school senior or transferring from another institution, we know that no two paths are the same and you will find many resources available and collected here to help you reach your specific college goals, including but not limited to important docs, dates, FAQs and so much more, and all in one convenient location: right here and at Maryville College, where you will experience and be prepared for both the everyday and the unexpected.

We do things a little differently at Maryville College. Our team of dedicated Enrollment Counselors each work with a different territory and set of schools within the United States. Enrollment Counselors work with their students and families through the entire enrollment process so they are able to build meaningful relationships and advocate for their students. This personalized approach allows you to have one central contact to answer application questions, FAFSA questions, financial aid questions and more.

To find out which Enrollment Counselor you will work with, check out our Team page. They will help answer your questions at any time.

All of our scheduled events can be found on our Dates & Events page. General information about visiting the campus at other times can be found on the Visit page.

Maryville College offers two non-binding application rounds with two separate deadlines: Early Action and Regular Decision.

Students will begin to be able to apply for admission to Maryville College beginning August 1 of their senior year of high school on their personal MaryVille Portal (MVP).

Once the application is submitted, we’ll need additional materials:

Essay (not required)
Applicants are no longer required to complete an essay as part of the application.

Letter of Recommendation (optional)
Though not required, students may submit supplementary letters of recommendation. It’s advised these letters come from individuals who know the student the best and can provide insight into their abilities and skills.

Campus Visit (optional)
The optional campus visit is a time for students to set themselves apart by letting us get to know them more and introduce them to their Enrollment Counselor. View available campus dates here (hyperlink to campus visit page)

We understand not all high schools are the same, so we review each transcript based on the high school’s curriculum and grading scale. Students who have completed AP, IB or Dual Enrollment coursework, can receive college credit based on the review of exam scores or transcript. A 4 or 5 on an AP or IB exam will yield credit and a C or better in a Dual Enrollment class will yield credit.

Our Enrollment Counselors will assist students and families through the entire financial aid process. We are committed to helping our students and families get the most aid to afford a quality education. We offer a variety of scholarships and financial aid.

Academic Merit Scholarships

No formal scholarship application required for Merit Scholarships, as it is considered part of the college application process. These are based on a student’s weighted GPA and test score superscore.

Competitive Scholarships / Awards

Students may apply for any scholarship or award even before they are admitted to Maryville College. Each scholarship or award requires a separate application and each scholarship committee will invite a select number to students to interview or audition during Scholarship Weekend each February.

We would love to visit your school or meet you to get to know you! We understand that there may be limitations on in-person visits or the types of visits that are allowed at your school. Enrollment Counselors are prepared for a variety of scenarios that best fits your and your students needs. Types of visits and workshops we excel at include:

  • Counseling Office Visits
  • Classroom Visits
  • First Generation Students Workshop
  • Application Workshop
  • Financial Aid Workshop
  • Scholarships and Outside Aid Workshop
  • Choosing Your Major Workshop
  • Transfer Pathways Workshop

My school/district does not require students to take a foreign language in high school. Does this disqualify them from applying to Maryville College?

We understand that each school district has various graduation requirements. As long as your student meets all requirements to obtain a high school diploma from your school, they qualify to apply and be admitted to Maryville College. The student will still be required to take two semesters of the same foreign language at Maryville College to complete core curriculum requirements.

Can Maryville College provide an application fee waiver for students?

Our admission application is free for all students. We encourage any and all students to apply for admission!

Can the student transfer to Maryville College after utilizing TN Promise or attending another college or university?

Of course! We have a robust transfer student population at Maryville College. Transfer students will work with our Transfer Enrollment Counselors who will work with them on financial aid, credit transfer process and more. Students can view pathways to success on our Transfer Pathways page.
